I was over at my parents' house the other night, and I took some pictures of myself with my beloved kitty, Oscar. (Yes, he was named after a certain Anglo-Irish author. We used to have another cat that I named Bosie after Wilde's lover...but Bosie ran away. D: )

So, in short...my kitteh! Let me show you him!

Very cute Kitty =D
I know how you feel, i think a lot of people feel that way at one time or another but i seem to feel that way constatnly.

I think there's a very large though some what subtle attitude within our society that we should all be achieving something, and that if we're not we're rubbish and what's the point. I've known a lot of people who think that if they haven't done something spectacular by the time they're 20-25 then their life is meaningless and they give up all together.

I also know a lot of people who don't see any point in doing anything beyond watching tv, and going to work. I sit there and look at these people and think "what the fuck?" I just can't fathom it.

I don't know if there's a point to all this, i don't know if i'd want to know what it was if there even is one. I think it's better not to think to hard about it ;) haha... Consentrate on the things you love instead, and be happy you're not a mindless tv watching drone ;)

I can't fathom it either! My ex-boyfriend, my brother, and several people I know are like that. As I said in my above entry, I often wonder what the point of life is, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to make the most of mine.

You also raised a good point by saying that some people think their life is worthless "if they haven't done something spectacular by the time they're 20-25." As a 24 year old with big ambitions, I often feel that way myself, but I also see the folly in that kind of thinking. Just as it's not good to not even try to make something of your life, it's also not good to put needless pressure on yourself by telling yourself that you're a failure in your 20's. I kind of think it's never too late to make something of your life.

I think it's better not to think to hard about it ;) haha... Consentrate on the things you ( ... )

NYE? I'm assuming that's a happy sound, and you're making it about my cat. XD 'Cos he's cute enough to incite reactions from people like that.

I miss you so! I'm going to FL for a few days for my cousin's wedding, so I won't be online, but when I get back we should reconnect. :D

Take what you see outside you, adjust your lens, and focus it upon you. Make it about you, not about everybody else, if just for a little while. Take everybody else, and everything else, and try to understand its meaning to you. Drink in the results of the passion of others. It's a heavy weight, feeling like you have to be the sun from which those around you must photosynthesize. You'll burn up.

Don't make you what life's about; just make you part of it.

Yoda? Is that you?

Just kidding. XD That's actually good advice and an interesting perspective on things...I just wish I knew who you were!

Without a god, or some predestined purpose, i am free to take sole responsibility for myself, without attributing my successes and failures to some mysterious force or deity. That's a really interesting way to look at it. I've met so many people who think that life is meaningless if you don't believe in some kind of diety and/or afterlife. As an agnostic, I like your idea that the lack of a belief in those things is actually MORE liberating.

Thanks for the compliment on my cat. :D I agree that Oscar is a good name for a cat. Even if it weren't a literary reference, I'd still like the name. It fits him.

Love your Stranger Than Fiction icon! That's one of my favorite movies.
