I enjoyed this very much! You do an excellent job, even without your notes. Be sure and post any pictures, if you can. You're right about the downhill part of hikes -- they were also hard on my ankles. 30% - 45% grade is very steep!
Yeah when I was going through my pictures yesterday that one just stopped me and I was like "whoa.. this one is definitely getting posted!" what's funny is I don't think I even took it for it's inherent beauty, but rather, I think there was a blue turaco on that branch, though I can't see it in the picture!
Also fortunately it's not glaring, but I can still see the blur from the shmutz on the lense in that picture and it breaks my little heart
Fun! I did a study abroad program that took me to Melbourne for 5 weeks, then Western Aus (Broome, Fitzroy) for another week. (And went to Sydney only for a weekend in there, too) So amazing!
Gorgeous pictures. I've been to cloud forest exhibits at zoos, but not the real thing. Though I grew up in a Pacific rainforest, so there's that. ;)
Was any of your hiking at altitude? I find that makes uphill work significantly more difficult. And going downhill... ugh. My knees! I've been on a lot of hikes that seemed pretty level until we turned around, where a slight downgrade became evident... mainly because it was challenging for the knees. Glad you made it back safely though, having seen what you wanted to!
Yeah we had gained significant altitude! It was interesting seeing the flora and fauna change as we moved between different climate zones based on altitude (:
