Looking at the satellite image, a huge ominous spiral of cloud hundreds of miles across was just above us. Seemed a bit alarming, but no one seemed concerned.
I can't imagine not being concerned about that, but I grew up and live in North Carolina where we compare hurricane stories as a "get to know you" conversation starter. (My two big ones were Hugo in '89 and Floyd in '99. Floyd was a lot like Oswald's turning out to be.)

These aussies, I'm telling you. Even halfway through it everyone was acting like it was just a normal thing... meanwhile the local big town has been about washed away!

Well, hurricanes/cyclones are boring. Hours and hours of rain and wind. I usually spend them reading. Nothing else to do.

Wow, that's unreal. I hope the water recedes quickly. Stay safe!

Oh, man! That foamy water just looks so unreal but how cool are those folks trying to save the turtles? My heart goes out to them. I hope by now, Thursday afternoon here in CA, you're starting to dry out. Thanks for all the photos, they really tell the story.

Oh my gosh! That is crazy! I hope you're staying safe and that the sea turtle babies make it safely to the ocean, hehe.
