Argh stupid lady

OK, so... leaving my house involves a left turn at a T intersection from a small side street (with stop sign) onto a slightly busier street. There was a lot of traffic in both directions, and I was waiting and waiting... and there was a woman jogging up the sidewalk across from me. There was a good-sized gap, so I started to go. And jogging lady, ( Read more... )

I really want a non-lethal pedestrian punishment device. You need a special license, of course.

You know, when I'm a pedestrian, I actually hate it when people insist on stopping for me. . . because I think it's faster and easier for everyone if they just go by, even if I have to pause, because they are going much faster, and I don't want to have to scurry across the street because people are waiting. Everyone, just work together! >.<

Other pedestrians are losers. They either don't pay enough attention or they pay way too much attention and think you're going to ram them at any moment (like the guy in the Lowe's parking lot that I told, loudly and through my open window, to fuck off :-P). I should go around teaching people how to be decent pedestrians (including Jason, who complains constantly about pedestrians when he's driving in campustown, but who is the WORST PEDESTRIAN EVER when he has to walk anywhere).

In a similar vein, the Portland area has a real problem with people insisting on being "nice" at four-way stops. (To other drivers and especially bicyclists; there aren't any four-way stops I walk through on a regular basis, so I don't know how pedestrians get treated.) This means that instead of knowing when you can go, everyone sits there and squints at each other through the (sometimes darkened) windshields and wonders. It's honestly much nicer to just take your turn so that the next person can take theirs. Please, people.
