What a day. Found out that someone I'm really very fond of is dying. I knew she'd had cancer but as of a month or so ago she'd recovered quite a bit. Now she's taken a turn for the worse, is mostly unconscious and isn't expected to live more than a few days, a week at most. She's about 50

I'm sorry, that's such awful news, and it must be so hard to have it all pile up at once like that.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Have you had a chance to talk to the friend, or write something out, even though (depending on her state) she may not hear or read it? I know that part of the shock is probably wondering what to say, but I hope you get the chance to talk to her soon.

Yes, I wrote something. Her parents are with her and will read her things, even though she is unconscious most of the time.

The good news is the second friend's follow-up tests came back 100% normal.
