I did my taxes too. I'm confused though. I did it on Turbo Tax and I've got some voucher thing I have to send in, then it has my first quarterly payment being due on April 17!
WTF?
I can't pay one amount on the 15th then send in another huge amount two days later!
But my friend told me that since I was going to start working full-time in May, I won't have to pay the quarterly taxes anymore.
I'm thinking of just paying my "what you owe" amount and just leaving the quarterly payment.
I'll be making tax payments from now on anyway.
Why do taxes have to be so confusing?

BUT your friend is right: since you'll be full time from May on then you'll have your taxes withheld from your payroll check, right? So you shouldn't have to pay estimated quarterly withholding....
But just don't forget that you'll owe for your independent contracting for those first four months (Jan-April) of 2005, so you had better make sure you set aside the money for that (you don't want to forget and have it be a big scary surprise when you have to pay it out next year).
Taxes are a bitch.

I'm hoping That next year I won't have to pay too much. I should be okay though.
