comic books about comic books....

I've been reading some really wonderful compilations of comics lately
(they aren't really graphic novels since they were originally published as series, but it is fun to get them bound together with the entire story in one place).  The most recent ones are actually about comic books, which is very fun (kind of like how Jane Austen's Northanger Read more... )

graphic novels, warren ellis, comics, joss whedon, brian k. vaughan

Another great comic by Brian K Vaughan is Ex Machina btw. (You can find some pages at scans_daily, a great comic community)

Also, you'll love Planetary more and more with each new volume. I myself have the first 3 Volumes, and I'm still waiting eagerly for the last comic to appear. (But I'd bet Warren Ellis will either release it after his death or never, which would leave the end open.)

well leaving the end open is something I can understand...
Ellis has been writing more novels (without art) lately, but he may want to return to the comic book world at some point.

And yes, I've been reading ExMachina, and I enjoy it, but I like 'Y the Last Man' even more, and my favorite is 'Runaways' (which Brian K. Vaughan isn't even writing now, Joss is almost done with his issues and then Terry Moore is going to take over that title). I also really loved 'Pride of Baghdad', that was a really powerful and moving graphic novel (and really is a great example of the huge variety of stories Vaughan comes up with!).

True. Vaughan gives Comic Books a new kind of twist that has been missed recently.
