Dreams are a good source of raw stories for me. Because I am part of them, I get a dramatic amount of the emotions and sensations that pure imagination isn't able to produce. It's been of great help to me in the past, giving me what I consider interesting potential stories again and again

Clearly you need to dream much more often. I don't believe you can call it stealing, more like a visionary process I suppose. You saw what your character's story would be before you had written it. That sounds like foresight to me.
