Dreams are a good source of raw stories for me. Because I am part of them, I get a dramatic amount of the emotions and sensations that pure imagination isn't able to produce. It's been of great help to me in the past, giving me what I consider interesting potential stories again and again.

The other night was the first time I made off like a bandit within a dream. Literally.

It was just another dream. I was in the small home of another author. It was for sale, and I was taking a look around. The author's idea notebook was there unprotected, though... and so I decided to peek inside it. I woke up to realize I had read one of my character's short stories (a story I didn't have before at all, not premise, not potential) and took it with me to the real world.

Is it possible to steal a character's idea, when that character is your own?
