As many of you know, and some may not, I'm working on a Hawaii Five-0/Ella Enchanted fusion. Danny is cursed with obedience, and shenanigans and angst ensue. It's a delightful story to write, and I love it to pieces, but I'm wondering if I can get a little feedback on a couple points that are stalling me. If you have any questions about the story

To me it really depends on the overall tone you're going for with the fic. Obviously there will be some crack/humor because it's Ella Enchanted and that movie is gloriously, beautifully cracky and hilarious. So to me, the length and bitchiness of the explanation regarding how he was cursed depends on a) how cracky your fic is going to be [i.e. you could have some long, absolutely ridiculous tale about like watermelons and pissed off fairies or s/t idefk] and b) the importance you feel the explanation has. [Although that one can be a subjective thing when it comes to the audience.] From my point of view, a medium-ish sized [maybe a few paragraphs] explanation is as big as it should get, because while I would love to read about some hilarious, hair-brained shenanigan that caused Danny to be cursed, I don't want to spend an entire page, or even like six paragraphs on it. /shrug
Thinky thoughts on Q3:
I would absolutely love if maybe they like, engage in sex while Danny's cursed but they don't ( ... )

The story itself is actually relatively serious. In fact, there are some moments where it gets downright angsty (toying with the idea of Wo Fat finding out and using the curse to keep tabs on Five-0). Also, like with Ella Enchanted, this is something Danny has to deal with from birth. Danny's parents don't like talking to him about it, and at one point even tell him to stop asking. So, I know I have to come up with some sort of explanation eventually, I just need something that meshes fairly well within the universe.
Ooo, I like the not-going-all-the way idea. Especially if Steve doesn't know, at that point. One of the challenges in writing, I have it so that Danny is ordered not to tell people about his curse (for his own protection; order was issued by his father when he was young). This makes sense in the context of the story, but I have to wonder about how much Danny is allowed to say if other characters guess about his curse.
But anyway, I really like the sort-of sex idea. :D

Kudos for the Ella Enchanted AU, btw. I've always loved that movie, but I don't know if I've ever seen an AU in one of my fandoms before? (This isn't to say there aren't, because there probably are, I just didn't find any relating to my ships.) Also, I'm biased towards Anne Hathaway because, well. She's Anne Hathaway.

RE: #2 Steve Knowing
I think I ticked every box, and I thought I'd explain why. See, I can't see Danny telling people this for the exact reasons you listed. But Steve would notice something is up, because Steve pays attention to Danny -- like, a lot. Danny baiting & watching is one of his favorite things. So Steve would get suspicious, and when it comes to people he loves cares about, he wants to fix their problems, to help them. So he'd do some digging (perhaps utilizing his Super Seal Connect-shuns), maybe form a theory that Danny is cursed or something, and then wait patiently for Danny to trust him enough to tell him. And in the meantime, Steve does everything he can to avoid giving an order, unless it's life-or-death or just, you know, Steve stupidity.

This is giving me an excuse to rewatch episodes, and catalog all the times Steve gives Danny an order ^_^

I admit to finding the idea of Steve ordering Danny around kind of hot. With Danny bitching the entire time, of course, and completing Steve's order to the letter, if not the spirit.

Oh, I agree, it is all kinds of hot. Which is why I'm kinda tempted to go the dream route, that way Danny can imagine, in a perfect world, what it would be like to have sex with Steve while still under the curse. Because I really like that idea, but I don't want to actually create a dub-con situation within the action of the story. (I can't remember, you saw my twitporn, correct?)
