Yay!!!! I was worried when I saw the news this morning about the tornado in Kentucky... *breaths a sign of relief her pal is okie dokie* :D Hugs

You mentioned the job interview, but what other jobs are you going after that you really want? Are you going to companies in person and asking to see their human resource manager? Go for what you want first before you settle for what you don't. I know it isn't easy sweetie pie.

here's the ting about going to a place in person and asking to see the HR person...from the HR persons point of view...we hate that. A lot. it puts us on the spot. thing is, we probably really like whoever comes in, but it still puts us on the spot to find you something. Just a thought from an HR person. Unless they say in an ad to come on in...calling to inquire is sufficient.

Wow, I got some bad advice from two HR people in NYC...unless they like to be put on the spot...and now I understand all the sighing and rolling of the eyes when I showed up! :D What advice would you give someone who is looking for a job? You are the perfect person to ask. If a person didn't think they were qualified for a job should they apply anyway? What do HR people look for in a candidate?

before I was in HR, I used to hear it was best to just apply even if you weren't qualified. here's the thing. If you don't have the minimum qualifications, not the desired stuff, but the minimum stuff, we don't even look at you. if it says you need a degree, chances are, we aren't going to take a non-degreed person unless you have like 30 years of experience. Also, we really do look at things like grammar and spelling on your resume and cover letter. we mock you if they are bad. We look for manners. if you treat your recruiter like crap, chances are you will treat your co-workers that way. Above all else, make contacts. half the people we hire know someone who knows someone. they don't get pref treatment per se, but they know when a job comes available. Let me know if you have specifics you would like answered or if I can help with anything else, but yeah, you got some bad advice. I don't know where they work, but most people (not just HR people) get a little annoyed if someone walks into their office without an appointment ( ... )

you can apply for a deferment on your student loans for 6 months based on hardship. just call and talk to them about it.
