I think this is the last one that will distract me.  It was actually written because of carla's wondering why Peter didn't just kill Jonah in the ship.  She wanted Ed to give Peter Rhindon and let him go to town.  lol.  So I wrote this to make her happier. It is by FAR not my best work, and I think Jonah caves too quickly.  But I didn't feel like ( Read more... )

dark peter, interesting and yet I can see him and Ed doing this, feeling pain over it but doing it anyway. I also like the protectiveness of the boys includinng Logan (yay!!) towards the girls especially Lucy.

:) I'm still in shock that people like Logan. I'm used to seeing OC's get reamed. And I have my theories about Peter. I don't know if it's exactly Dark!Peter so much as that Peter has to make some really hard decisions and do some not so nice things as the High King. I think that maybe one of the reasons that there WAS a Golden Age was because of Peter's natural inclination to shield everyone from the really bad stuff, family or country. Everyone wants to feel safe and secure, and I can see Peter quietly dealing with all the scary and hard stuff in the background, and then showing up at the banquets and dancing and smiling, knowing that know one knows how bad it sometimes gets. Enter Edmund and to some extent Logan. Edmund is Peter's right hand man, and he knows when bad stuff goes down. Logan backs up Ed, and between the two kings and their sidekick enforcer, things get kept quiet. Peter likes it better that way, so Edmund does it that way, and Logan goes along with it because it's fun to bash heads on the High King's dime.

see the thing with oc's is that if they are written well and are genuine, i personally like them and I know others do to, enter Logan.

And I so agree with you about Peter, it is so him to shield everyone fgrom the bad stuff and it would be ed's job to help peter shield himself from the really bad things, share the burden. And then have Logan who can help them both deal with what they choose to do.

but then you can also say that Lucy and susan, more so Susan do have an idea of what the boys choose to handle and how but the girls go along with "not noticing" cause it helps Pete and Ed. I can see that in "beast" sometimes with how much the girls choose to say.

*sorry if this is not understandable, i just got through with the finale of DW and am in shock*

It's understandable. :) What's DW though?

That's a good point you bring up. I think in Beast (and movie PC in general), Susan has to step away from the sideline role she had had in the GA. Not only does she have feelings for Caspian that pull her in the mdist of things, there's so much going on that she doesn't have the luxury of letting Peter deal with it all. It's almost as if between the two of them (Su and Peter), they're trying to forcefeed a Kingly eductaion down Caspian's throat. Not that Caspian wouldn't be an okay king all on his own if the situation wasn;t as bad, but being that it is, he's kind of in over his head. Poor dear. *pats Caspian*

While it may have been dashed off to clear your mind, this is an incredibly interesting piece. You humanize Peter and Edmund, two characters who often end up just a touch too cardboard, showing them to be flawed and willing to justify cruelty and vengeance while still struggling with that very desire.

It also paints another dimension to life in Narnia, which really adds to its realism. There are always dark corners, even in the lightest of halls, and sometimes being a leader means doing unpleasant things in those dark corners, to prevent worse things from happening later. Rightly or wrongly, by taking that responsibility solely into themselves it means that the Queens never face that kind of decision, never learn those realities. Although if I had to guess, I'd say that Susan (in particular) and Lucy (to a degree) often know far more than their brothers suspect.

In short, an interesting and highly thought-provoking read. Thanks!

Thank you! I've been really enjoying playing witj Golden Age Peter and Edmund. I think I've decided the GA fic will work best if written between Beast and its sequel. Oh dear, it looks like a trilogy in teh making. :P ( ... )

*chuckles* Y'all are out for his blood, aren't you? Cali was especially vengeful. lol. I can resurrect him and kill him again if you like. Thanks for saying it didn't suck. :) I almost didn't post this because it had that suckage feel. Bleg, my brain has not been working well today. Jonah's lucky. If I had written this tomorrow, he might have had it a lot worse...

I loved this follow-up to the insert. The way you wrote it, I can even picture this as something that would have actually happened in the Golden Age. And love love Logan! Normally I can't stand OCs but yours fits so well into the story that I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about him.

I'm adding you to my friend list, I hope you don't mind. While I have loved the Narnia stories since I was little, I only recently got into fanfics about that beloved universe. I've thoroughly enjoyed the "Beast" story so far, and have managed to not read it all in one sitting but to stretch it out leisurely over the last couple of nights. Now that I'm all caught up, I can't wait to see more of this story soon. :-)

Thanks! I'm actually writing on Beast right now. Su and Lucy are holding court, much to the Lords' dismay/irritation/opportunistic glee. Reading Beast in one sitting would be a lot of reading, considering how long it is. :)

If I were to try to read "Beast" in one sitting, I'd honestly would have to take a day off work. :-) I think I ended up reading between 1-4 chapters a night depending on the time. And then I would end up re-reading bits of a previous chapter anyway since those parts would get stuck in my head.

Ah Susan and Lucy are tormenting the Lords... sounds fun! I also hope poor Edmund will get out of predicament soon. It's not fair that Peter has to be the one dealing with Caspian all the time. :-)

And I've gone and taken the liberty of reading all your Narnia fics as well. :-)

lol. I was trying to read it one day to refresh myself about certain parts then finally I gave up. Too freaking long. :) I need a Beast cliffnotes.

Chapter one: Dude, where's Su?
Chapter two-chapter eleven: Stop angsting Caspian!
Chapter twelve: Edmund gets laid.
Chapter insert: Why is she writing about the golden age randomly?
Chapter thirteen: Ed...seriously. Enough with the getting laid.

Now I see what I have to do to find your fabulous work. (adding you to friends list ;) )

I started reading "Beast" in June. You had written 6 chapters and I read them all in one sitting. Was never really into fanfiction till someone recommended your fic. Since then loved all your work.

I think you wrote Peter very well in this one. Most of the time the GA seems like it was a grand old time with happiness and rainbows. But I'm happy you showed the reality of it. Even the GA had to have some not so happy times.

Hi tina! Yup, I put some of my stuff here, including little clippets of the next chapter of Beast when I'm working on it. I also post every so once in a while on the susancaspian livejournal community, usually just drabble challenge pieces.

Aww, thanks! I'm glad you like the fics. I've been on a Peter kick since watching cali-chan's fanvid on you tube. If you haven't seen it, it is here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PROWCNCInJU I don't think she realizes how much of a muse she is to me. *huggles absent cali*

Ah, the GA. There's going to be two fics after Beast, and true to the way Lewis never put the books in chronological order, the second one is set in the Golden Age. The third will be like Beast's sequel. I'm rambling now... anyway, thanks for stopping by!

I see. You posted some stuff in here that I hadn't read before. So this keeps me busy till ch.13. ;)

Peter is a great character. He reminds me of my own brother. Thanks for link to the video. Was very enjoyable.

Well I like the sound of that. ^ more fics from you to come. You spoil us so. Thanks!!
