Heh, I think people are fairly set on just ignoring most of what happened in S4 because so many things were off base. That's how I feel anyway. So much OOCness and inconsistencies meant that I gave up caring enough to take the episodes seriously, because the 'canon' we're being presented with doesn't match the other canon we've been given! (And I liked last year's better, so I'm sticking to that.)

To be fair the ep itself was fine, and reasonably entertaining, but it did nothing for any of the millions of storylines they'd created, so I didn't care much about the endings or what the point of the ep was (if I did then I'd be mad, cause I don't think there was one, and really it should have been about Freddie's murder).

Well, I'll be sticking around for the foreseeable future, if that's any consolation :)

Ah S3, who'd have thought I'd be looking back on the triangle of doom fondly?

So far as I'm concerned, that wasn't an ending. It resolved nothing. End of story. It was not a bad episode, but it wasn't an ending.

Shame on you writers!

Yeah, they gave themselves far too much to do. I'm all for open endings, and I quite like how they left it with Cook, if it wasn't for the fact that they didn't do anything with Freddie's death, which now seems even more pointless.

Meh, there was like 5 minutes of a good episode in there somewhere. Karen was awesome, Tommo looks badass while running and COok is still great.

Naomi's speech ... it was alright, and it made me all giddy and happy but I didn't really think it was good or anything. It doesn't totally negate S3 for me - I can still believe that if Naomi had spent several years being a complete loner then it would take her ages to accept what she had with Emily. Basically, if there were only gonna resolve ONE storyline I'm glad that was the one.

Music was shit tho.

I thought it was actually a very good episode. I had stopped caring about where they were taking the storylines and how they were going to tie it all up, (which I'm glad about cause they didn't really do any of it convincingly - or at all) and instead could enjoy things such as supersmart!Panda and dancing!Cook and JJ and brb - running to Harvard!Thomo. Karen was also pretty good and Naomi was funny before she took on Freddie's spirit and became a pothead ( ... )

I guess I liked the Naomi speech for exactly the reasons you liked the other stuff (most of which I agree with) - since this is no way ties up with S3, and doesn't make any sense, I may as well enjoy it as much as I can within it's own context. And given how Naomi's been acting this series, the speech wasn't all that out of place, so it worked for me. I should be angry, cos as you say she's acting nothing like Naomi actually would, but I've grown immune to it by now. SO I could just enjoy the sweetness and go "awww!"

My main issue is with this as the finale. Apart from deadFreds I think this would have worked great as episode 6. Like, for Naomily, you get the revelation in 2, we see it's still shit in 4 and then Naomi tries to explain in 6. Then we could have had Emily accepting her back for the last two eps, so that even if it was cheesy it wouldn't have been rushed. And for the others ... everything would be better if this stuff had happened earlier, IMO. Everything would just be more developed, and then we could ahve had a proper ( ... )

Yeah, I suppose that the only thing I still care about is Naomi and so she was great for a lot of this ep cause I think finally she was written properly, but not so great at the speech.

I agree with your comment about pacing. Lots of things could have been improved by fixing that. But hey, it's done now, so. I guess it's up to fandom to make it all better!

About Naomi's speech: I don't think she actually LOVED her since she was 12, because I don't personally think you can love someone without knowing them very well (especially not when you're twelve), but I find it realistic that she had feelings for her all the time, but was in denial about them. Even though she didn't always let it show, to me from the beginning of series 3 it seemed like Naomi had feelings for Emily, but was just scared about admitting to them and letting them show. And I know it seems a bit OOC for her to be all soppy and romantic, but I think that's kind of the point; like, she was getting over what she used to be scared of and showing that she wasn't ashamed to love her anymore.

I do think they should have had all their angstyness resolved more than just in that one speech, but ngl, I still SQUEE!d. A lot.

Other than that, I agree with you :) Just hoping the film sorts things out a bit more, and that it's not complete shit...(which I think it might be, sadly)

Well, I have a few issues with Naomi's speech, which I didn't go into here, but I guess I will.

Firstly, I called this scenario after JJ's ep:
My real issue with it is that come finale I think there will be a single scene and crying and apologising and that'll be it. And that pretty much was it - there was no real build up to it throughout the series. My issue with it after JJ's ep, and it's still the same issue, is that it feels like total fan service to just stick them back together and almost 'fob them off', you know? Like, oh just let them make out some and it'll be fine ( ... )

Yeah, I do sort of agree, but I think more that they should have shown them trying to fix it previous to the series finale instead of just having them angsty for THE ENTIRE SERIES and then having Naomi give her little speech and making everything okay. But I did like the speech. Even if Naomi's hair in that scene was appalling, but let's not get onto that :)

Does Jamie Brittain have any involvement with the film? If not, it should be okay I guess :)

Lol, the hair was something else, wasn't it? I think they were trying to show that without Emily, Naomi quite literally falls apart ;)

I don't think he will be, he's got to concoct things for Gen 3!
