OMG THAT PATTERN IS SOOOOOOOOOO PRETTY! If you do end up making skirts, please let me know! I would LOVE to find lolita/cute shirts in my size. ;A; *throws money at you* I would maybe just get patterns if you can and start form there? Maybe work on cheap material before playing with the expensive stuff?
I KNOW RIGHT!!!! *^* it comes in black & dark blue too!!!!! I like the blue as well, but the shade of pink was just too pretty to pass up! I have some scrap fabric at home, so I will definitely practice with that before I use the expensive material. I would cry if I screwed up $70 worth of fabric DX
I sometimes make clothes :D and I really have no idea about real sewing XD Most patterns come with instructions, I think vogue patterns do not. A skirt is the easiest thing to make ever and you will have no problem at all. I'm guessing that it's going to be a lolita skirt ? with a border print like that (so cute by the way!). 3 yards is pretty much the minimum for the bell shape skits but if you wanted it fuller you could just add a ruffled bustle in the back, although a three yard hem is quite a full skirt already

Yep, lolita! Thank goodness I bought so much @~@ I read on a website that the average for a skirt was around 2, but I bought 3 just in case, and now I'm glad I did!
lol do I know how to sew zippers?!?!!? XD;;; I've only sewn a zipper once (maybe twice..?) but I was just screwing around and eventually found something that worked LOL
and thank you so much for the links!! The first one will definitely be very handy :9 I'm so ashamed to say it, but I really don't know much of anything about real sewing either ;__; I regret not taking sewing classes back when I was in high school, because then I'd at have a general idea of where to begin! x_x;
and that burdastyle site is amazing! I've really fallen in love with the Linda 8164 skirt *_* I wonder if it would be too long for the fabric I bought though? If it is, I will still try to make it, just with different material. I loooove long flowy skirts like that ;u;
oh gosh, I hope so ;__; I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, but yea, I will definitely practice with crummy cheapo stuff first :9
lol I think sewing dolls & sewing clothing are very different x.x clothing looks really technical, whereas you can screw around with dolls and you still have a chance of it coming out well HAHA XD
Seconding toda and tomokii in saying that you could practice with cheaper fabric before working with the nice pattern. And that is such a gorgeous pattern, holy cow. *u*
From what I remember of my cosplaying days, skirts are super easy to make~ And most patterns come with simple instructions. If you're looking for tips I'd recommend maybe some cosplay or lolita costume making sites? I know cosplay.com has a forum you can ask questions in. :3
ah, I used to go on cosplay.com a lot, even though I never really cosplayed :P I liked looking through the marketplace, haha
I am feeling better about making the skirt now, since I'm being told it's quite easy o3o but I have a bad feeling that as simple as a skirt may be, I will still run into some trouble ;__;
I am thinking of making a skirt that falls just below my knees! either cupcake or Aline, since I don't want to try anything too fancy since this will be my first time :P

I agree with toda about practicing with cheap fabric first. But you're really good at sewing already, I imagine you'll do great! :)
