Way back in December, Steve's family all chipped in to get me an e-book reader for Christmas. They chose a Kindle, which was absolutely perfect. The only catch was that the hardware was back ordered. Steve actually placed the order in December, but the physical reader wouldn't be here til March

Isn't it? And I've been seeing a lot of websites come up where you can download e-books for free, and it'll let you read those, too. I am so excited!

That's wonderful! Good move on Amazon's part, there.

It's a shame that Amazon's e-book prices are still so high (I read an article the other day that pointed out 30% of their Kindle titles are >$9.99), but between your academic .pdfs, feedbook.com, the Baen free library, and all the other no-cost sources out there, you shouldn't run out of transportable material any time soon!

After you've had a chance to use it for a while, would you perhaps post with a review?

That's awesome! I don't get the appeal of Kindle, personally, but it's great that you're getting something you want, and the shiny new upgraded version at that.
