I just posted some musings on a decentralized LiveJournal that may be of interest (it's actually the second half of the post). I came to the conclusion that a decentralized version of LiveJournal may not be possible, or if so, is technically very difficult and not likely to happen any time soon.

I would like to propose that Elsejournal be a non-profit and/or cooperative, and that we plan ultimately to incorporate as a non-profit or as a consumer cooperative
