I usually played with my sister all the time since there weren't many kids in our neighborhood. I really don't remember playing as a small child, but usually my parents didn't really play with us when we were a little older, we were on our own to keep ourselves enetertained.

About your last three questions... I feel a certain playtime is absolutely imperative for children and adults alike. Regardless of their age or social status. The human brain and body does need some time to relax and do an enjoyable task such as playing. However, the type of games and/or the play-time alloted to children and adults should differ e.g. toddlers require a miminum 5-6 hours of play time daily. They don't have other activities, and that is the highlight of their days.

Children in high school can make do with around 2-3 hours of daily playtime -- educational playtime.

Teens can have a couple hours daily -- some play that will nurture physical health, such as basketball, skating, etc.

While adults, because they are saddled with more responsibilities and chores, will have to suffice with a lesser play time. But regardless of time alloted or age, some time kept aside for simple recreation is essential.

"What role do you feel your parents/siblings had in your play as a child?

I don't remember adults playing with me, but I do remember them being around watching. I was an only child/grandchild for a long time and I felt appreciated as a young child. (A bit spoiled!) As I got older and circumstances changed, my mother taught me how to make things out of everyday objects and to sew. She encouraged my creative play and most importantly, let me do my own thing. She taught me that you can have as much fun with things that you make as with store bought things. I believe this helped my creative and constructive thinking skills tremendously. I also think it helps me appreciate things more in general.

So I just replied to your e-mail. Check that.

And tell me when this is due so I know when to get Alex to answer this stuff. He never views LJ stuff. I have to coax him with my charm. :)
