I went back into New Orleans Sunday. It was the most surreal experience of my life. Lakeview is disgusting. Its just this oppressive dust, wet, hot, smell, thing and its so bad. The dust, it was everywhere. You hate to breathe. I won't go into too much specifics. I took pictures. I need to buy a cord for my camera because I want to upload ( Read more... )

this is rebekka, obviously, and i went back to lakeview on sunday too... i luckily have 2 floors but I felt just like you... before Sunday I had been holding on to the idea of only having to fix the bottom of my house, but now I don't want to ever see that part of my house again... seeing the the dirt and decay that covers our neighborhood was so horrific. But things really will get better, and I hope we can all go back to Franklin.

Also, if you parents haven't already, tell them that they will probably be able to save things like china and appliances that are stainless steel. We brought all of that stuff back with us from our downstairs and cleaned it with vinegar and its fine. Wood can also be repaired if it hasn't warped too badly

Lakeview really is disgusting, I don't see how it will ever be the same again. Because it probably won't. As long as there's a slim chance that Franklin will open though, there's hope. I'm glad that you could salvage some things from your house. I don't think I'm ever going to go back to my house, but thanks for the advice. I hope everything works out for you and I hope to see you again at Franklin for the second semester.

I feel just as detached. I know exactly what you mean. My whole life, after a suffer a major loss, I feel little or no emotion. I hardly ever cry. Sometimes I hate it. Im so sorry Ellie. All of my momentos are yours, not really I know, but you can have whatever you want. I love you!
