OMG I APOLOGISE FOR SPAMMING YOU GUYS. BUT I HAD TO SHARE.

1. Eventually - eventually - I will move on from Wicked. But I got stuck on another loop this evening, to check out Julia Murney as Elphaba this time, and crappers if she isn't one of the best actresses I've ever seen for the role. Whatever you might have to say about her voice - and if it's ( Read more... )

Who is that ridiculously lucky man kissing Lisa in your av!

Errr, I apologise for the long spam. Makes me happy though, to flail, however escapist it might be.

Thank you for the video! Downloading it now, but sendspace is being a bitch and taking a while. *grumps*

But man. That guy is so FORWARD. Though I guess if I were him and we were talking about kissing, that's totally what I'd do too. Heh.

OMG INORITE. THE MORE I LISTEN TO JULIA THE MORE I LOVE HER.

Seriously, she is just fabulous and her control is just... *dies* From what I've seen, her Elphaba is definitely much more bookverse, much darker. And she's such a phenomenal actress. I think that's why I love her so much - the vocals are impeccable, of course, but they're always to tell the STORY first. She feels everything she sings. My god. LOVE.

*hugs your icon*

I love you and your flail. Flailing should be made into a profession - you'll rise through the ranks in no time!

Why thank you kindly. Clearly, it's flail like that which keeps me up 'til 7 in the morning, sigh. Clearly there's a reason FAIL and FLAIL are just one letter apart... ;)

It says the videos are no longer available :( -- N/M, my computer was just being stupid.

I haven't seen any footage of Wicked other than the clips with Idina/Cheno, so I think it'd be fun to see someone new in those roles. And wow, I just noticed your icon -- she looks exactly like my cousin's girlfriend Stephanie!

I'm so glad you're in a spammy mood! I've been like that lately too. SO much stupid shit has been going on at work (for both of us, it looks like -- I skimmed through some of your latest entries but didn't comment because I clearly fail) but I think maybe the changing weather is lifting my spirits a bit. It's great!

Keep spammin'! ♥

LOL YAY FOR THE VIDS WORKING. I was just going to come and flail and say I didn't understand why since they worked just fine for me. Let me know what you think of Julia as Elphaba! She kills me. I've seen a few of the other Elphabas, and some of them are really really good. (Eden Espinosa and the original Elphaba, original-even-before-Idina-original Stephanie J Block is good too.) Not necessarily better than Idina, but different, and therefore brilliant in their own ways. I've not seen a Glinda better than Cheno though, I must admit. Cheno sets the bar HIGH, lol.

Yay for spamminess! Seriously, flail just gets me through so much of the crack and awfulness that is work. Urgh. I'm sorry things have been bad for you at work too, though you haven't been posting or ranting as much as me. Clearly I fail in that regard, I'm so whiny. ;) But YAY for spamminess. You keep right on at it too! ♥

Yep, I got them to work! And my thoughts on Julia? Well, speaking as someone who's done choir/musical theater/etc. I have to say I'm not a fan of a lot of vibrato. And Julia would have an amazing voice if she didn't constantly use vibrato. It honestly got to be really distracting from the emotion of each of the songs. Which is a bummer, because I know you love her and I was hoping I'd enjoy it too. She's just not my cup of tea, Elphaba-wise.

And you're right, nobody can replace Cheno. LOL when I was watching the above version of DG, and Glinda was singing, I kept thinking, "She should sing more like Cheno." HAHAHA. But you CAN'T sing more like Cheno. You just can't.

Flail gets me through a lot of the work week too, though because of the stupid writer's strike there hasn't been a lot to flail about.

And I haven't been posting much because I made myself just kinda take a break from LJ. LJ's been making me disappear from f-lists anyway, LOL, so my journal doesn't get a ton of foot traffic. Seemed like a good time for a break :)

Ah, no worries there - the vibrato that Julia uses is a talking point everywhere, and pretty much separates her fans from her detractors. (Same way people rag on Idina for her gasping: she has a more conventionally beautiful voice than Julia, but she doesn't have the lung power - there's this one Youtube performance when you can literally hear her gasping for breath every other line. Really QUITE distracting, I must say, though obviously I love her anyway.) I'm not trained myself, so I just love Julia's tone and control and yes, whatever vibrato is, I love it. ;) I read somewhere that her voice cords actually vibrate at two frequencies, which technically means she can produce two notes at the same time? IDEK. That just messes with my mind ( ... )

It's true Julia's Elphaba is darker, more the Elphaba of the book. But she's definitely in my top 3 : Idina/Kerry/Julia ( all different but oh so powerful! ) ;)

Thx for the spam xD

Yay, I'm so glad you love Julia's Elphaba too! ♥ She takes a bit of getting used to, voice-wise, but once you're hooked, you're sunk. DONE FOR. ;) Have you seen the other Elphabas? I've seen Eden Espinosa and Stephanie J Block do Defying Gravity, and some of their riffs are KICKASS too.
