so...my parents and I painted my living room.  Formerly it was a raisin color...now it's a bright yellow with a greenish tinge.  My parents talked me into the yellow.  I hate it.  Soooo...

Now I'm thinking grey.  I have dark(er) wood trim, wood floors under the beige carpet, and a bright red couch.  Brown and red accents.  Am I crazy?  Should I just ( Read more... )

Well, first though I haven't seen it, I think that yellow-green needs to be sat in for a while to sorta gel, but if you HATE it, then you hate it. :) I think the gray will be gorgeous!

Well, you could go for a (very subtle) blue-gray, to offset the warmer colors of the wood and the furniture? I wouldn't make it too dark, though, or you'll end up with a cave ...

What about an ivory? It's classic, if a bit harder to keep clean.... You could also go with a more intense color, but I'd reserve that for accent spots, myself (sez the sister who has yet to repaint her all-white condo) ...

here grey would probably be dark and gloomy -- but if it's what you want -- it's your house, my love. You get to do any dang thing you want. I love reds and browns -- they make me feel cozy too. not sure how grey works in, or what shade your thinking, but I want pics.

But I agree with everyone else. Your house. Paint it whatever damned color you want.
