I wonder if yoga or pilates would help? If walking seems to be too much, maybe a few poses would help with muscle tone. Sit ups would prolly make you feel like you're gushing blood, but if you lift your feet up onto a chair, it will help put pressure on the trigger point that reduces cramping in the abdomen. That might help a bit with the pain.
Yay for sorting! It may not sound like much, but that always takes up more time than it really should. :)
