Well, I've been asked for a tutorial for the Pink Lana aliens and icons. and well, I'm way too lazy ight now too write a full-blown tutorial on this. And considering I was just playing around, it would be damn hard to retrace my steps ( Read more... )

And considering I was just playing around, it would be damn hard to retrace my steps.

See... that's one of the reasons I hestitate to do tutorials: so much of what I do is accidental, and only happens when I've got about a zillion layers and I just change the adjustment style, etc., until I like it. It'd be damn hard to list exact steps to recreate just about anything I've done.

A lot of what I do is accidental as well. It is changing a bit, which is good considering my profession, but some things..the best things...are hardly ever planned.

what I do when I create a tutorial, is I look at the layers that i do have, the opacities...aadjustmentlayers and write down the settings and stuff, and depict logically how you can get there. which is why I hardly ever write tutorials..it is sooo much work. Basically I agree with you *g*

I'm glad I'm not the only one with zillion layers.

Yeah? How so? I''m just curious about stuff like that..i love how different people can work... or how not different.

Fascinating because I find it really interesting to see how people work. It turns out we have similar techniques for most effects, but for example I don't use the curve adjustment layer as you do. I tend to use it beforehand, and by that I mean, on the bottom layer directly. I've used the curve adjustment layer before but not like that. I will experiment.

I've been requested a tut about my coloring and I think just putting up the psd file up for grabs like you did is a good idea. Might steal it.

First of all...guh new icon :) Lovley!!!

And I agree...it is interesting..how different people work. For instance, i`ve stopped using tuts on photoshop a long time ago simply cos if I achive something on my own it sticks better...but it always remains different. I think my last photoshop epiphany was masks.

What do you mean by beforehand...just on the imagelayer?

and basically..I use all adjustment layers that have to do with coloring... I also use the selective coloring layer plenty...just..what works best.

And a tut on your coloring...would be awesome..but a psd file would be even cooler.... cos you don't get so tempted to copy.. at least I think so... *g*

and it ain't stealing... I'm pretty sure I'm not the first person to do this. *g*

Thank you so much!! It's so fascinating to see how you work and I think I will learn a lot of it and with me, many others :)

Just imagine what fan art artists could come up with if they shared techniques :)
