One of the most petty arguements I've run across so many times is the discussion of what makes a true fan versus a poser or someone who's just not willing to sacrifice themselves on the alter of their favorite musician or band. Go Melissa! Been reading Hanson stuff lately? I love being a fan, but man sometimes I feel ashamed to be a part of something that can be so petty and horrible. But not all of the fans are insane! Like us!

yeah I know what you mean, but it's not directed at any fandom specifically. I've run across it in several and it always comes with the same agruements and requirements. It's just something that's always kind of bothered me. Kind of goes along with music elitists.....

TOTALLY. I HATE music elitists. You HAVE to like everything from some artist and know it all by heart and you either have to have known it since it first came out or at least all your life if it came out before you were born. Screw that! I like TONS of artists but I don't know everything from them and don't necessarily care to. I also like some songs from some people but I don't care for anything else from them. Does that make me a horrible fan or something? No! It's just gay. You should be able to like what you like and be how you want to be without people harassing you. It's just stupid.

I totaly agree with everything you said! And I think part of it also, is being able to give a group or an artist props for their talent even if you don't nessecarily like their music or what not. Just because it isn't your style or doesn't fill your earbuds with sweet vibrations doesn't mean they didn't put their blood, sweat, and tears into it with some talent behind it that deserves some respect!
