You definitely need "running shoes" - check your local Big 5 or Sports Authority on Saturday-Sunday; they usually have good prices on running shoes on weekends (anywhere from $12.99 to $39.99). The ad in the paper usually states which ones are for running, walking, hiking, etc. And you can totally get Chucks later. =)
if you go to a running store they can help you find the right fit for your foot and the way you run - I highly recommend at least getting an idea of the shoe to buy from a store like that, even you don't purchase them directly from there. It'll make a difference between pain and maybe injuries, and comfortable running.

I am severely not a Shoe Person. I love when I have a great pair of shoes, but I hate searching for them, know what I mean?
