Many years ago, a friend of mine was learning Portuguese prior to a study trip to Lisbon. To this end, he placed little crib cards all over his flat with Portuguese words and phrases and their translation on them, so that he was bombarded by the language. What he didn't know is that one day I added a bunch of fake ones. It is testament to how little attention he paid to these particular cards that it was several days - including a visit from his Portuguese cleaning lady - before he noticed.
The only one I still remember was the word "Codo" which I translated as "Do me up the arse, hunky white boy." I'm not sure if he ever found the expression useful.
