Call me ignorant (I know you will), but I'm torn on #349.
I don't care that there are Mexicans here. I don't think they're dirty, and I don't place any other stereotypes on them. Oh, and I realize that the United States does not have a national language.
That being said, I think some effort should be put forth to learn the primary language spoken in whatever country you live in. If you live here, you should try to speak English. If you live in Finland, you should try to speak Finnish.
I'm certainly not saying "no Mexicans make an effort to learn to speak English". Most do -- I'm sure that more than 99.9% of the immigrants from Mexico do. It does bother me though, when I encounter someone who has lived here for more than 10 years and knows little more than the word, "hi". My mom did a lot of volunteer work with LULAC when I was growing up, and I encountered several people who admittedly never made an effort to learn the English language. I know it's rare, but it really does happen.
I agree with you on number 350, but there are a couple of bands that I really think did kinda sell out. Green Day's Dookie was and still is one of my favorite CD's, then they're next album was all poppy. True, they did win some of my respect back but there are a few exceptions to the rules.
Green Day may have sold out, but who cares? All great bands eventually get to where they are so popular that you think it is just poppy because everyone, including younger kids, like them.I hate the fact that I used to love Good Charlotte and now I see my 15 yr old sister listening to them. For that, I don't care for them, but there is really no reason not too, other than the fact that their music blows now.
