I hate those moments when I'm being reminded of how f***ed up the reality is. So, apparently, it takes OSHA about 2 years to issue a temporary emergency standard limiting  the use of a widely used hazardous chemical that has been proven through multimple reliable studies to have a severe negative health effect on a large number of people. dont forget osha is so small and 95%of businesses don't know half of osha regs :-p

not entirely sure what you mean by "small," because in my impression osha is anything but. And believe me, quite a lot more than 5% of businesses are actually aware of osha's reqs, although that does not necessarily stop some of them from violating those, but that's a different story all together.

osha has a ton of rules (some of them outdated and lame) but I seriously think that alot of osha regs the majority of businesses really do not know about. Granted there are osha regs that businesses know about - most businesses do not know them all. I've worked for gov't and NGO organizations that completely ignore OSHA on purpose, and half of it was ignorance. The closest thing to OSHA compliance I ever saw was when I worked at the kent fire department.. they did everything by the book.
