Ya know, if there is a history of people hitting cars in a certain spot, it might behoove you to set up a digital camera hooked up to a computer taking pictures every 20-30 seconds, and archiving them on a 24 hour rotating basis. So if something happens, you can go to the archive and extract the images to give to the police.

With as much impact as there was with this most recent incident, there's almost certainly some paint or other fragments of the offending vehicle left behind. I wouldn't rely on the Lafayette CSI to find the clues for you, though.

Yeah, it was dark when it happened and we looked around,.. in the dark.. in the snow and ice. And didn't find anything. I'll look again tomorrow when it's day, but by then the snow will make it harder.

And it might be worth the camera. It is really irking to me that people will sideswipe our cars and knock down my WALL and just drive away!!

Look particularly on the tree and the brick wall. Those most likely took a piece off the paint job.

I suspect an SUV with large bumper. We looked really closely at the tree and the bricks, as best we could at night. And for the car to have jumped that wall I think it'd have to have a high wheel well.

My father in law has up these huge cement blocks and barriers around his yard, to stop trucks from turning around on the lawn.

One day, a high speed chase ended on their dead end street when the car panicked, ran over the lawn barriers, blew out all four tires, and ended up dead in the water about a block from the house.

I'm glad you're okay! Will homeowners or renters insurance cover that (whichever applies)?

It would be homeowners if anything and there's a $500 deductable.... So, I'm not sure if it will be worth turning in. But we did take photos and get the police report in case.
