A question on German

I have 2 different German course books and both of them have CDs to listen to texts. And the content of these discs puzzles me much. The problem is pronunciation. Our teacher told us that "in classic rules" the letter "r" is not pronounced as firmly as it mostly is in Russian and almost Russian pronounce it speaking German. Well, first of all Hüber is very good, so if you want to learn good, "hoch Deutsch", use that one. The Russian one probably explains better things so they can be understood by Russians, but regarding pronunciation, Hüber should be it. Is one of the books used to teach for preparation for the recognized German language tests ( ... )

Thanks a lot!=) Well, I will try to do my best in pronunciation=)
One of the criteria to recognize that someone comes an East European country or Russia is the way they pronounce the "r". - Funny, a girl from the course whom i once walked to the underground station with after the lesson complained: "She (the teacher) says that we can pronounce "r" as we wish, but when we speak to Germans they will at the very first moment make their mind of our social status if we are wrong with "r"". I suppose she don't want to seem completely bad at German too:0)
