Guess who was having their pipes looked at so as to prevent them bursting? Upstairs. Guess who managed to take a radiator off the wall by accident and thus without shutting the water off? Don't know what it's like out by you, but around here a legally licensed plumber has to have some kind of insurance to pay for damage he caused on the job.

They got lucky, another foot to the right and it'd be over the bookcases and *then* they'd see a hissy fit of epic proportions. As it is, everything should recover once he's arrived with his magic water-sucking-up hoover. If any of the actual architecture is affected, then fortunately that is the problem of the letting agency.

My mother once nearly had matchboarding put up in her bathroom. I caught the carpenter about to saw through one of the pipes to the radiator so that he could get the matchboarding through there.

Plumbers are far more evil than that, though, in general.

I KNOW! It would've taken out the entire of Patrick O'Brian, Terry Pratchett, Tanya Huff and Diane Duane, plus a healthy chunk of Samuel Delaney. Disaster!
