Gosh! I loved the backstory you gave us for Ray, and the way the ending was a flip parallel of the scenes in the front. You made me feel for Jimmy to the extent that I was rather upset to see him go, though it makes sense for the fic as a whole. I also very much loved the Ray POV, and one of the lines you made Gene say caused me to laugh out loud:

“You're about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, Christopher. It may ‘ave escaped your notice, but while you were rolling about on the floor we’ve bloody lost a van full of cash!"

I'm very glad you enjoyed the fic. I was sorta sad to see Jimmy go too - but it was that or rot in jail!

The backstory is my sort of canon/fanon for Ray - it's a basis for most of my Ray-based stories, cos he seems like he's so alone in the world! Reckon he was orphaned in the war...
