Better late than never, right?

Seriously, though. I am really sorry this is so late. My internet wasn't working until about 2 minutes ago.

Here is the place to discussion this weeks episode. Rants and squee are both welcome, just as long as you remain respectful of one another.

To me it was a fairly 'meh' episode, hafta wait and see what Part 2 has in store before I officially rate it as 'good meh' or 'bad meh'.

Two things that stood out to me; Future Rory and Future Amy waving was a sweet touch to the overall story (if it really was them?).

And the Doctor's face when Amy was pulled under. Absolutely heart breaking and showed how important she is to him (SQUEE!).

Besides those two things, honestly the episode was fairly 'meh, whatever'.

Oh man, the scene with Amy getting pulled under was awesome in terms of all of the angst of him trying to hold on to her, trying to reassure her, just the dialogue (Amy: "Don't let go." Doctor: "Never."), and the way he's yelling, "No! No!" and clawing at the dirt after she's been taken under... *sigh* My inner shipper was pleased.

Apparently my inner shipper really loves dramatic angst. o_O *sheepish face* ;) But it was definitely tasty stuff there, what can I say? It also has fabulous vidding potential, which is always high on my list of things I love in an episode, lol!

I enjoyed the ep overall, though that was really the stand-out scene to me. ;)

Bummer about your Internet being down, malana! That always sucks! :( Hope it keeps working for you now! ;) ♥!

The episode was kinda boring. I did enjoy Rory quite a lot this episode, he was hilarous! I suppose I just don't like him when Amy's around because of my inner shipper XD My heart broke when Amy was pulled under. The way the Doctor refused to let go and how he clawed at the dirt and yelled after she disappeared. *melts*

I was... how do I put this... disappointed? by future!amy and future!rory. It basically just solidified their future together and that pissed me off, just because I ship 11/Amy REALLY REALLY hard. LOL. Like I feel as though it was an unnecessary thing to do? I hope that it's like... resolved in part 2. Like I feel as though there is a REASON that they saw them. Why would they just like stick that little moment there to be "sentimental"? Maybe it's really them not in 20 years, but just right after the end of all this stuff? I don't know. Whatever. Bleh.

Amy getting pulled under scene = INCREDIBLE. I literally melted. I rewatched it a couple times when I finished the ep. Just the Doctor's determination and his super angst/upsetness when she was gone. So incredible.

There were some really awesome moments in this episode (DONT DISS THE SONIC! etc), but I just feel like there was something missing. Pretty sure that something was lack of Amy, but yeah whatever.

though, i'm not entirely sure that was actually future!amy and future!rory. if you look closely, you can see the purple coat of Ambrose on "Amy". and with the same red hair, it's no surprise that from a distance they would look the same. why Ambrose and her husband were waving, i'm still not sure... but i'm convinced that that wasn't actually Amy and Rory. there is definitely some weird stuff going on, though, because in the very first scene, Ambrose is definitely wearing Amy's clothes...

actually nevermind.... the purple coat is a little too short. but i'm still convinced it's not rory and amy.

The whole 'that's you in ten years' thing was... weird. For one, why are Amy and Rory living in Wales in ten years? How randomly convenient is that? It also just feels weird after the previous episode with their dream 'future'.

I think I'll have to rewatch it on iPlayer. But it may be some in-timeline time travel. We've already seen the Doctor has done this in previous episodes (naughty, naughty, Doctor, breaking your own rules). It's almost like another ploy of the Doctor's to keep Rory and Amy's relationship on track.

But aside, when we first saw Ambrose walking along the lane towards Elliot and her husband I did actually think 'is that Amy??' Too many redheads... (says the redhead)

This episode really felt to me like it had been written with Tennant in mind. I guess it's hard to coordinate characterization between writers for someone that hasn't been on TV yet, but I found it pretty distracting. Amy felt really wrong as a character, too; I think she'd be interested by the mystery, not whining. The actors were definitely doing their best, and some nice things shone through anyway (like that delicious failed high-five), but it all just felt really off ( ... )

1. Your icon is awkward!win

2. I can see a little bit of issue with that "feels like it was written for Ten" thing. You know, I thought the same for a split second. What with the non-acknowledgement of losing people and all.

3. I actually thought Amy made sense with the whining. Okay, so he's proven he can't always be right on time, BUT how many times has Amy gotten to be taken to the totally wrong place when she wants a vacay and ends up solving a mystery? She really wanted Rio and, I think, hasn't quite glommed on to the fact that pretty much nothing is predictable (IN A FRICKIN' TIME MACHINE WTF lol). Even the fun gets ruined sometimes by the need to set the universe straight. If I were her, I might be a bit peeved too, and she has the perfect amount of feminine disapproval without being totally annoying. Love it.

1. Ahaha, your icon. I love those two so much.

2. So many Tennant tropes! Lonely god! Sonic screwdriver does everything (except wood)! Oh boy humanity! It's a little thing, but it felt really jarring to me as a cranky fan. I wonder if it was one of the earlier episodes to be written. It would be entirely reasonable to write that way if he had nothing else to go on.

3. Yeah, that's reasonable enough. And she does certainly have a delightful history of telling him off, for big and small things, so that's not out of character. I think I would have liked to see it toned down a little as it became obvious that something weird was happening, which took it past just picking on the Doctor and felt a bit silly to me. But I freely admit I was expecting this ep to be subpar and may not have been very charitable. ;)

THIS. I was thinking the EXACT same thing!! When he said "Brilliant people." It sealed it for me lol. I also felt like certain actions that Eleven did like eating the grass... yeah... XD

Amy annoyed me for a bit but then again it's a change for companions who used to be excited about these things. Not that I love it...

I MISS the Silurians. It's weird seeing them now. XD
