Better late than never, right?

Seriously, though. I am really sorry this is so late. My internet wasn't working until about 2 minutes ago.

Here is the place to discussion this weeks episode. Rants and squee are both welcome, just as long as you remain respectful of one another.

I was... how do I put this... disappointed? by future!amy and future!rory. It basically just solidified their future together and that pissed me off, just because I ship 11/Amy REALLY REALLY hard. LOL. Like I feel as though it was an unnecessary thing to do? I hope that it's like... resolved in part 2. Like I feel as though there is a REASON that they saw them. Why would they just like stick that little moment there to be "sentimental"? Maybe it's really them not in 20 years, but just right after the end of all this stuff? I don't know. Whatever. Bleh.

Amy getting pulled under scene = INCREDIBLE. I literally melted. I rewatched it a couple times when I finished the ep. Just the Doctor's determination and his super angst/upsetness when she was gone. So incredible.

There were some really awesome moments in this episode (DONT DISS THE SONIC! etc), but I just feel like there was something missing. Pretty sure that something was lack of Amy, but yeah whatever.

though, i'm not entirely sure that was actually future!amy and future!rory. if you look closely, you can see the purple coat of Ambrose on "Amy". and with the same red hair, it's no surprise that from a distance they would look the same. why Ambrose and her husband were waving, i'm still not sure... but i'm convinced that that wasn't actually Amy and Rory. there is definitely some weird stuff going on, though, because in the very first scene, Ambrose is definitely wearing Amy's clothes...

actually nevermind.... the purple coat is a little too short. but i'm still convinced it's not rory and amy.

The whole 'that's you in ten years' thing was... weird. For one, why are Amy and Rory living in Wales in ten years? How randomly convenient is that? It also just feels weird after the previous episode with their dream 'future'.

I think I'll have to rewatch it on iPlayer. But it may be some in-timeline time travel. We've already seen the Doctor has done this in previous episodes (naughty, naughty, Doctor, breaking your own rules). It's almost like another ploy of the Doctor's to keep Rory and Amy's relationship on track.

But aside, when we first saw Ambrose walking along the lane towards Elliot and her husband I did actually think 'is that Amy??' Too many redheads... (says the redhead)

I'm kind of thinking he was just saying that in order to reinforce his whole "must make sure they get married because I've decided that will fix the universe for some reason" thing. It's not like he let Amy and Rory get a closer look, after all.

But then that leaves the question 'why are two randoms on a hill waving at them?' So I'm guessing it'll have some link, eventually, even if it's just that they end up going back to that time for some reason and wave at themselves.

I definitely think he said it's 2020 them for that reason though - the whole reinforcing that they'll be together thing. He prolly didn't let them go talk to themselves because then his little plan would be foiled XD

Yeah, I think you're right, it probably is them. Especially seeing the cut scene on the Confidential where Amy and the Doctor talk about it; presumably they wouldn't spend so long on it if it was all a misunderstanding. It just all felt a bit weird - why would they come back to wave at this point?

I imagine it'll all make sense soon enough. It does all feel a bit too obvious to be what it seems, though. Good thing for us.

I think this is gonna be the season when the Doctor well and truly breaks his 'not within my own timeline' rule. Moffat seems to like set timelines and messing around in them. So I really wouldn't be surprised if we see more of these 'oh hey, there're two of us in this timeline!' moments. We've already had one back in Flesh and Stone, and probably one in Eleventh Hour. I'm sure they'll all be explained eventually, even as only something to try and manipulate the future (putting the idea of ten years of marriage into Amy and Rory's heads, for example) - because otherwise the waving thing seems... pretty random and unimportant. There has to be something behind it. We'll prolly have to wait til the last episode to find out what though!

He prolly didn't let them go talk to themselves because then his little plan would be foiled - Agree. Totes. He was surprised they ended up in Wales but not Rio and yet somehow he knows for certain that it's their future selves? Just a bit of quick hair/age deduction and wild speculation, imo. Shame, Doctor.

I LOVED the 'don't diss the sonic!' moment - because obviously he's already had Donna slating the fact that 'it doesn't do wood' XD Little nod made me happy.

Haha, I was just coming back to mention that. That definitely convinces me that something's going to go horribly wrong for Amy and Rory, possibly soon. Poor them, but, y'know, there are benefits...

(I would gladly have kept that scene and cut out a few minutes from somewhere else. "I like Rory. ... A lot.")
