I got temporary tatoos from Darko and put one on immediately ( Read more... )

D: I don't think you have any idea how jealous I am, I was supposed to go to Europe two years ago and had to miss the opportunity. Looks like you had a good time! (Lol, GoS is taking over my life, too. Don't feel bad.)

Aw, bummer. I hope you get to go at some point, though, it was definately an experience.

This post makes me smile so much. I am now about 60 percent more excited about France now that I know that picture is there.

The heads on Roman friezes thing mainly came about during the transition of the Roman Empire to Christianity around 300ad, but I would have to see the date and original location to tell you for sure. And the Mona Lisa has a special protective glass covering it which means if you were much closer and used a flash you wouldn't have seen what it was anyway. And can you believe winged victory is in a freaking stairwell? I love that pic of the covered statues!

Jesus you're smart! I wish I could have told you more about the frieze because it was really interesting, but my dad and I were going at a furious pace and I didn't get a chance to check the dates or anything.

Nah - I just did years of art history, and about half of it was classical period. If I really tried I could probably work it out, but that might require me referencing a few books and obsessively trying to work it out, and then you would end up with an essay.
