I've been keeping an eye on this, especially as I'm going to be spending a fair bit of time down near the border with Mexico. To say the news is troubling would be an understatement.

VERY scary. Though, I am curious about the difference in mortality rates between Mexico and the US. IIRC, the idea that there might be some sort of secondary infection common to Mexico but not found in the US has been floated about. Of course, we also haven't seen as many cases here yet, so who knows how those numbers will look in another month or so? :/

No, I hadn't. Thanks for the link.

it may be a coincidence, but a friend of mine is a physician's assistant in san diego. she had the flu a couple weeks ago. she stayed home for two days, but was told she had to come into work or lose her job. she now has pneumonia and has been home for a week sicker than a dog. she has been coughing so hard she has strained muscles in her ribcage and now can't move or breathe.

i have sent her a message asking if she has been tested for this variant of the flu. she may be a statistic.

Yikes, thanks for keeping us all posted, I personally hadn't caught wind of this since I was layed out much of last week after tweaking my back (sadly I haven't figured out how to get RSS feeds in my sleep yet).
