as i am sure most people are aware, the WHO is looking at a situation in which humans have contracted a mutation of the swine/avian/human flu. there have been deaths in mexico city, as well as confirmed cases reported in san diego country, imperial county, san antonio, kansas and new york city (approx 100-200 school children).

it appears that the WHO is looking to raise the pandemic threat level from 3 to 4, and it should probably be a 5. the lowest is a 1 and the highest is a 6. according to the WHO
pandemic threat level chart level 3 - there is no or limited human to human transmission of a flu virus.
level 4 - is for "increased" human to human spread.
level 5 - is "significant" human to human transmission.
level 6 - is for "sufficient and sustained" human to human transmission.
i am sure many of you have heard about the pandemic of the flu in 1918 which infected a large percentage of the world population and killed millions of people. it is better known as the
Spanish Flu. it was a variant of a human/avian flu which would cause a person's immune system to go haywire resulting in pneumonia. the healthier a person, the sicker they became because of their immune system. the highest mortality rate for the spanish flu was in the ages of 20-40.
this is the reason for the concern regarding the current flu outbreak. those who have died are the young. there are currently 854 known cases of pneumonia in mexico city. of those 59 have died per
