Cat-Sitting Adventure Day 1I wonder what's going through Gypsy's head as two semi-strangers come to her house to make sure she has food, clean litter, and for cuddles, even though she doesn't consent to those all that willingly

In other kitteh adventures - I was walking in one of those big bike trail/jogging parks down by the river, in business area, with no homes nearby... when a polydactal kitteh walked up to me! I scritched, and cuddled, and picked up, and people said 'yeah, she lives here. There's this guy who comes and feeds the stays sometimes.'
Sweet kittehs deserve to be in a home where they get toys and lovings and healthy foodz! So I carried it to my car, thinking 'WTF. I can't keep this cat. What am I gonna do?!'
Got it settled in the bathroom, knocked on the neighbor's door, and asked 'Hi. Wanna cat?' '...yes, actually.' The fact that she's sweet, and extremely gentle (she struggled against the notion of getting in my car, but never one bit or scratched!), and polydactal - well. This just sweetens the deal.
Assuming she checks out healthy at the vet's on Saturday (and that she doesn't have a chip), she's moving in with my neighbor. EASIEST REHOMING EVAR.
Roomie is growing increasingly convinced that I've absconded with someone's indoor/outdoor cat. Which is possible - but it's not that bright of her owners if so, since she was clearly known at the park and not just a one-time escapee.
I think if people let cats out, they need to be chipped and collared.
If in doubt, you can always put up posters or let local vet clinics know and see what comes of it. Or keep an eye out for missing-cat signs in the area.
I used to have to feed next door's fish when they went away, and it's definitely best not to give into the temptation to overfeed fish: they're greedy little bastards and will get portly and poop more besides. They're worse than pet mammals for trying to make you believe their owners have been starving them cruelly.
The cat probably suspects you killed and disposed of its owner. Mine does this too.

Once we move I can look more seriously at getting a kitteh (or two, so it has company). Hopefully this year!
