Helen had put it off and delayed as long as she could, but if she didn't leave by tonight she wouldn't be able to connect with Jaimie before he world-walked to a place that the portals here didn't seem to reach. It had taken a lot of thinking and planning to figure out what to do when she had to leave - and a lot of fingers crossed that the timing

James considered it would be more polite to use the door than the window.

"It's open," Helen called. She checked to make sure Kianah was still safely tucked away, sleeping, in her special pocket, then turned towards the door.

"It is I," he said, entering, and closing the door, mostly. "So."
