You can never have too much steampunk. ;)

I suppose dying black shoes white wouldn't work? Is it possible to bleach shoes, the way that you can clothing?

It's OK; black shoes are canon, just not as recognisable as the white ones.

Yay, another Hilary costume :-D

and, do I steampunk this up a bit? Since you're already going corset I feel you're already heading down the steampunk route ;-P But if the question is should you steampunk this up a bit *more*, then... well, surely the answer is always yes! to more steampunk :-D

OK.

I've always resisted steampunk before (purely because I knew I could get too involved with the clothes). So, suggestions for steampunking. Some sort of brooch would be in order I suppose, and some sort of hairpiece, but what form should it take?

Yes to brooch (could you make one? Wirework or that fima clay stuff? Then you could have a seal of Rasillon or something.) Unsure about hair, though I guess putting up the back somehow but trying to gel/spike your fringe might work? Oh, and of course Ten canonically has (reading-)glasses, so you could definitely work with that, either using it as a starting-point for the full goggles thing, or maybe going for a fancy chain/ lorgnette(sp?)-type affair?

Ooh! Lorgnettes!

Hard with the hair,as Ten doesn't have anything like the Fez.
