I'm pretty sure they don't go back home because of the paucity of grits above the Mason-Dixon Line. They all bitch about the weather and the pollen it brings, to the extent that a hundred degree day in the South in August is breaking news.
I miss snow. :( (grinning, ducking and running....)
The two reasons I hate this place are not the weather, but: -- The political environment (at least we live in the bluest district in the state -- it's a lot like living in Boulder, CO, after it was taken over by James Dobson and his evil crowd)
-- Most of my kids and grandkids aren't here with me. Almost anyplace without my family is hell...but living in Houston to be near them would be a worse kind of hell.
I'm not a Yankee -- unless you consider someone who was born in NC and grew up in VA a Yankee, as they did in Louisianna when I lived there. ;D
