miss me?

I'm back from music & dance camp; as usual it was all-out amazing. This was my tenth year going, and I honestly have a hard time imagining a year in my life without it. It's the guaranteed best week of my year, and it's bittersweet coming home at the end ( Read more... )

I was thinking about your wedding too today. It was the first of the past three years of weddings on this past weekend's position in August, and I'm enjoying that as a new tradition in my friends circles :D. A lot about the lovely wedding yesterday reminded me of yours, especially the garden setting for the ceremony. Has it really been that long though since I last saw you???

I would love to take David along dancing. You too if you're interested!

Also, what's this about Colorado?

Long story. David thinks he may want to go into pastoral counseling as he planned to when doing his MA originally. He was 23 when he graduated and decided he was too young to be counseling dying people so he went in another direction. Not very many programs offer a pastoral counseling degree with a Buddhist slant - so he would need to return to Naropa and take another semester's worth of classes to get certified and he would have to do some kind of internship program. It is couple of years down the road. But if this is the path he really wants I will support him.

I'm sure I will blather all about it to you in person later this year. :D

That sounds really awesome, actually.

I really can't wait until you can blather to me in person.

'm still here. For certain values of 'still here'. :)

lol, I think I have been at "certain values" ever since I switched to this account which must be almost 2 years ago. I guess given when I first arrived here I never expected to stay more than a year or two, it's not a surprise that my level of engagement would shift dramatically over time.

glad you're here.

I've only had a very sporadic presence on LJ since we saw each other in Oxford, but I haven't seen anybody say they were permanently departing LJ. A couple are doing lots of cross-posting, but that's really all I've seen.

So far Aja mainly, esp cos she's also not reading here anymore, which was a blow for me since I know I don't have the time/discipline to crosspost or even set up mirroring right now. And now Dorrie as well, though I hope she'll still read and/or maybe come back. It's wibblifying. But I'm glad to see most people sticking around, even if tentatively and with their blast armor on.

Aja actually left? I did catch a post of hers to that effect a while back, but it was all passionate and impulsive and Aja-ish, so to be honest I didn't think she'd carry it through. Especially because she's been here so long - she was well nested in.

Yeah, she left. I think she felt she needed a real break from being that nested-in here anyway, but still, it was pretty sad. I kept hoping she wouldn't carry through, or that something big enough at LJ would change to make her feel it was worth provisionally staying, but nope. Now I've just gotta get my aggregation of off-LJ blogs sorted so at least I can read public entries. I don't want to use LJ as an aggregator the way I've been accustomed since my strong sense was that folks who left LJ wouldn't want people setting up LJ feeds of their new homes.

Still here. Have set up other journals at IJ and GJ. But am still here just sort of waiting for people to sort things out. Sounds like you recharged completely, good for you!

Yeah, I've never taken this much vacation before. The last time I took 2 consecutive weeks since graduating college was when I was unemployed and went to the UK then, and I've never ever taken 3 weeks in a 6 week period before. I hadn't though it was possible to feel this much *better* even when there are still a lot of things to deal with and/or be stressed about now that I am back.

have you made any decisions regarding grad school with HJ?

No, sadly. I'm beginning to question again whether grad school at all of any description is actually what I need. Oh so much stuff to be done, gah. I need to research all sorts of communications-related programs and see if anything else pings me as better suited than CMS before flinging myself into trying for CMS, I think, or even being sure if it's right for me. meeble.
