Acquired a copy of Torchwood from misterfallen (and smoked outside the little red line on Canada Square! I'm such a rebel, me). It's essentially like sticking a mobile phone into your laptop :) hence it is completely mobile. It's on an 18 month contract though and has a 3gb usage limit per month. So if you like gaming and downloading it's no good.

3 gigs isn't bad at all, I do like downloading but assuming I don't manage to want five different anime series in one month I should be alright. The long contract is a bit more of an issue, though, as I've only got this room till July 8th and thereafer I imagine I'll be back to non-wireless service.

I'm guessing that what Lydia meant was that several mobile networks (including 3 and Vodafone) offer a package where you get a USB GPRS dongle-modem, and a monthly Data Allowance. Then, you surf the internet via the mobile network operator's services.

I have one friend using the service, and has been very happy with it thus far (though I don't recall what network she's on)
