Michelangelo sat with his knees drawn up to his plastron, huddled down at the foot of the bed. The comm was set neatly a few feet away.

He felt ... what did he feel? Angry. No, furious. But also very, very scared. This place was like nothing he knew, nothing he could comprehend. The Shredder didn't torture people. He didn't make them scream like that. He was evil, but this? This was like something out of a horror movie, come to life.

But Leo was coming. Leo would come, and Leo would have a plan, and they'd go get Raph back. That's how this works. Leo fixes everything and they fight to stay together. Because they're a team and a family and it's not a family without Raph ( ... )

Donatello set the comm down without turning it off and was surprised to find his hands shaking.

He hunched forward, pressing his hands together and to his plastron. Then he choked once and reached forward with a grasping hand to silence his comm and scrambled to his feet, breathing deeply to try and calm himself.

Think, Donatello. Think. You weren't any good to anyone if you didn't think.

His brothers. He had to find his brothers.

Leo. Leo had sounded...angry. Angrier than Donatello had ever heard him before. He'd do something stupid...and Mikey. Redd wouldn't take them, Don knew that, right? He wouldn't. What better way to punish the other three than to not include them in the punishment at all?

They hadn't been there to stop Raph, so they wouldn't be there for him, either ( ... )

Leo was taking too long.

Waaaaay too long and April's leg was bouncing, smacking against her palm so hard it was starting to sting. She couldn't do this. She was a field reporter, she couldn't do this, wait when she knew they were just around the corner.

She'd apologize for it later, not giving Leo this one thing, but she was an adult and she could walk down a hall way all on her own, and she had to see Mikey and Donny and make sure they were okay--

April was out the door before she could stop herself, sprinting around to the boys room--

"Guys?"

Why were they all just standing around staring at that she--

April screamed.

The voices of his brothers snapped Leonardo out of his stupor and he turned sharply on his heel. One hand grabbed Don's arm and dragged him close before lifting up to the back of his head, mirroring the other with Mike's neck. He pressed their faces into his shoulders, pulled them down, tucked them in close.

Don't look- Don't look-!

"Don't," he choked out through clenched teeth, arms around his youngest brothers as he tried to shield them the only way he knew how. If he could keep them from looking, they might not get as scared. Might not be thinking the things he was. Their chests might not constrict as painfully, their breath might not rattle in their lungs and their hands might not shake as badly.

Don't look...!

Pounding footsteps registered and April turned the corner too late for Leo to call a warning. She looked at them, then looked at Raph's door -and his shell, God, his shell, Leo would kill Redd, he'd murder him mercilessly- and screamed. Leo flinched at the sound, but called to her in a strained voice. Give ( ... )
