It took every scrap of control and focus Leonardo had to shove his fear, rage and fraternal empathy for Raphael's agony deep, deep down inside and close it to be dealt with later. He had other brothers, April, to protect. They had to find where the Captain was. They had to find Raphael before it was too late. Leonardo -despite seeing its success- didn't trust the system, nor did he want to test its validity with his own brother's life.

Ironhide was only trying to help, Leonardo knew, and he was right. So instead of making an idiot of himself Leonardo threw the comm aside and left, intent on collecting Don and Mike as soon as possible, putting April into safe hands -Ironhide, probably, he would be able to protect her- and hunting down the filthy bastard that dared to harm his family. Redd wasn't a god; he was a child with a lot of expensive toys, with powers and with slaves. Raphael had done something stupid, something incredibly stupid and rash and selfish, but while the ending of one life may deserve another Leonardo would not let it be his brother's. All the fights, all the hateful words, all the animosity and all the terrible things in the world could never make Leo believe that Raphael deserved that kind of pain. Never.

Mike's room was just nearby- but something caught Leonardo's attention. There was something in front of Raphael's door. Several steps later the object came into focus and Leonardo stumbled back, his determination and composure shattered like someone had taken a sledgehammer to it.

It was Raph's shell.
