Light from the sky

Where did that come from, and was that triggered by supernatural power or advanced technology? I wasn't aware there was anything in the City with that kind of firepower. I'm going to investigate the ruin, and see what can be pieced together about the event in case anyone needs to find me.

Aside from the light, sound, and target was anything else ( Read more... )

event, playing calm, epic fail, police force, investigation time, i am not amused city, not as planned, wtf?

Ms. Claire, I'm Commander Vimes. How long were you an investigator?

I have been an investigator for two years independently, after three years as an assistant to a detective sergeant. I make up for the short time through diligence, I assure you, Commander.

Well, at least there's someone else with sense.. And I think it's advanced technology. I en't sure though.

If I’m going to get to the bottom of something, it just seems to make sense to me to keep my head on straight… It’s too bad there’s so much panic to deal with.

It did resemble a large laser beam, didn’t it? Perhaps it left some sort of electronic “fingerprint” if technology was used, though I miss the equipment I had back home. Thank you for your input.

Hmmm... Talk to Ingram, he's good with technology. He said technology from his world could do something like that. It looks like they were able to contain all the debris, to.

Can I help?

Ingram? I don’t believe I’ve met him before, though I agree I probably should at least compare notes with him.

Technology in my world might have been able to do destroy a building a similar way, but probably only on a slightly smaller scale. I’m pretty handy with it, up to the limits of my world’s technology which appear to have been surpassed by whoever did that. Impressive that they could not only level a building but also contain the debris.

Yes, please. It’ll be faster to get to the bottom of this the more people are working together to piece together what happened. What kinds of things are you good at? I’m going to need someone to be my eyes since I’m can’t stay long before I need to see how many people I can calm down in the City proper. If you’re not sure what else to do, could you please look at everything there as carefully as you can and let me know if anything stands out?

If that was magic, it's not like anything I've ever seen or felt.

It’s too early to rule out anything… I’m going to see if I can piece together a sensor of sorts for any stray electronic signals, and then go to the ruin. Want to come along in case you can sense anything there or notice any sort of symbols left behind?

I'll go, but if I go with you nothing you piece together is going to last more than 10 seconds I'm afraid. I am curious as to what might be scavenged from the rubble.

Hm… Then I’ll go with Plan B. The trip with you to see if you notice anything I don’t while empty handed, and a second trip with electronic “eyes” to check for anything we missed. I’m afraid so far as magic goes, I’m completely blind, and I don’t know who else to ask.

Thanks.
