LJ has not been saving my drafts, and this is part of the reason I haven't been updating lately. There are other reasons, too, of course. But I just want you guys to know that I value you and I read LJ every single day. Even though I'm not a frequent poster or a frequent commenter, this site is a big part of my social life. It's like going to a party and just sitting and listening to everyone's stories, for me. This description resonates with me so much. I'm on LiveJournal every day reading people's entries, but I think most would be hard-pressed to know it from how infrequently I comment. Even though I really do mentally and emotionally engage with everything I read, sometimes it's difficult to know how to comment. Sometimes it feels like if I don't have anything of true substance to say, I look like I'm commenting just for the sake of commenting, and it all reads false and awkward. I don't know, but I totally relate to that statement ( ... )

Yes, I totally agree with you. In real life I'm not usually that person who has a lot to say. I nod, I smile, I ask a pointed question or two- but none of this really translates well to internet comments. I do find FB a bit easier, since liking something is often similarly subtle, but I find that when I become friends with LJ people on FB, the dynamic of the LJ-relationship changes and the interaction tends to simply shifts to FB instead ( ... )
