I've been on LiveJournal for going on thirteen years. During that time, The Powers That Be have been guilty of dumbassery now and then. So it goes.

But the times are challenging enough without facing additional censorship and bigotry from our current LiveJournal comrades in Russia

I'll definitely be updating on DW as well as the other platforms. Where are you/will you be? It looks like something of a mass exodus is happening.

oh, i never even post (except maybe twice in all the years on LJ) on my own LJ....

(the lady who I've partnered with in the past on LJ (mechtild) has already moved to DW, crying that her Wm Morris wallpaper could not survive the trip....)

so....i guess I'll be visiting you on DW.... i don't even really understand how a lot of this stuff works and might just be too old to learn....

I don't understand how a lot of this stuff works either -- so hey, if I can figure out enough about it to use it, anyone can! :) Fortunately DW is very much like LJ was some years ago, so that transition is fairly simple. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know! We ol' dawgs must stick together! ;)

I've friended you over at DWidth, user name is the same. I'll follow you on Tumblr, but I've always been of the opinion that, unless users there set up their accounts properly, there is usually no easy way to respond and therefore no way to have a dialogue. I hope that you will continue updating at DWidth. Of course, this is JMHO and YMMV. There is no mechanism to notify one of posts by a fav person at Tumblr, at least not one that I can discover. If you find out differently, please let me know.

Also, sadly, on average, at least once a day my Tumblr is followed by a hard-core porno site! Tumblr tech support informs me that there is Nothing that can be done and I should just make my account private. I told them there would be no pt in having a tumblr, then. Silence from their end, sadly.

Thank you so much! I've friended you back! I'm so glad to be able to keep in touch. I will definitely continue updating at DWidth. I've been using another Tumblr for fannish stuff, and while I haven't had the porn issue (yet! hope I don't jinx myself!), I definitely see your point about interactivity. So yes, I'll be keeping DWidth. I do like how easy Tumblr is with cross-posting short things (like Calls for Papers or reading recs) to Twitter, but it's somewhat apples and oranges. Thanks for your helpful advice and insights!

I've discovered that if follow someone on Tumblr, as soon as you "Follow," it gives you the option to receive notifications of that Tumblr's actions (new posts, etc.). Just FYI!

Really sorry to hear this. There's definite dumb-arsery in the land of the new ToS, but I'm sadly not convinced of its lack elsewhere in the world either, at the moment. And I can't do Tumblr, or Twitter or even Goodreads really, so I probably won't see you much around unless Lj closes down and I'm forced to DW. So - best wishes for your world, and for all the wonderful things you do to make it a brighter place. Your fish have been fab. *g*
