I Come Bearing Vintage X-Files and Lone Gunmen Goodies

Jan 31, 2016 08:35

In this X-Files revival moment, I thought I'd share a couple of older X-Files-ish goodies for those of you like me who want to believe.

* My "Looking Back on Genre History" StarShipSofa tribute to The X-Files features my "whirlwind tour" of the genre ancestors of Agents Mulder and Scully of The X-Files -- in other words, a discussion of the ( Read more... )

And mine has been stricken from the Internet which is for the best, the second major fanfiction epic I ever wrote, almost 20 years ago.

The summary is that the next morning after the Christmas ghosts episode, martial law is declared and with their apartments unsafe...Mulder and Scully have to move into a place they know is safe and free of bugs or anything else...

With The Lone Gunmen.

Then, after I tried to have stand alone episodes but I was more interested in the more Dickensian aspects.
I decided that Mulder had been married once and she was with him investigating the Syndicate when the Cigarette Smoking Man had her killed. This wasn't long after she and Mulder found out she was pregnant. I decided this was why Mulder was on the couch, falling asleep to porn...the bed reminded him of Norah too much.
Frohike had been a test subject of the Syndicate for decades because he had psychic abilities...this is also why he downplays it.
I made him Gibson Praise's father and if I remember right...because 15 year old me was deranged...he was ( ... )

Oh, I wish it were still available! I'd've loved to read it.

Cheers to you for adding to the X-Files/Lone Gunmen love!

Maybe someday...

I didn't get a computer until 2002 so I would write all the stories on notebook paper and type them out at the library right onto the website...

Except for the MSR I wrote on the original Fox X-Files message board, I wrote them right then so...it's all lost except for one chapter I submitted in a writing portfolio my senior year.

I haven't read XF fic in a long time, but wow, I remember so many of these authors! Some of these titles look familiar as well.

I look forward to listening to the podcast as well!

Aw, I love seeing my little fandom coming to life again, at least for a short time!

Thanks so much!

I know what you mean about seeing the fandom being reanimated. It's such a joy to behold!

I never got into the X-Files fandom, even though I've always been an avid fan of the show (and am enjoying the new episodes immensely.) I did read a couple of stories, though it's been so long that I can't remember their titles, so thanks for the list. Some sound frightfully interesting.

You're most welcome! I do love me some apocalyptic X-Files/Lone Gunmen angst. It is exciting to see the fandom coming back to life, isn't it?

Off topic, but how are you feeling now?

Oh, thank you so much for asking. It's very hard for me to take time to rest -- I'm not naturally a patient person! -- but I can see real progress when I do, so I'm trying not to push too hard. I'm finally being able to keep up with work and feel like a human again. It's ridiculous how a couple of perfectly ordinary illnesses, back to back and persistent, can wear a person out!

So the short version is: better, thanks. I really appreciate your kindness.
