She'd heard people pass through the lobby. Going to work or coming from. Running out to grab a bite to eat or returning with take out because they felt like eating in. The vast majority of them paid her no mind, and she did the same, lost in her thoughts.

In the midst of her remembering Valentine's, and the pool, and all the little events that transpired that night. Her throat tightened up on her and she sighed softly.

And then someone sat down near her, and there was a slurpee held out in front of her. Her hand lifted to take the cup, the icy beverage shifting inside. She could feel the cold seeping out and working its way into her fingers as she looked up to see Dean just...sitting there.

Her brow furrowed for a moment in question. Had he gotten it for her? They'd only spoken the once since his arrival, and she didn't believe that to be grounds for him to get her a slurpee.

Dean knew a person having a bad day when she saw one. He had had more than his fair share.

Maybe it was out of the blue, but he was considering it his random act of kindness for the day. He shrugged back at her, before shifting to lean back a bit and rest his elbow on the back of the couch.

The smallest of smiles curled up the right-hand corner of her mouth and she lifted the straw to her lips, taking a slow sip. She swallowed as she lowered the cup and held it back out to him.

"Blue raspberry, huh?"

It'd been long enough now that she'd accepted the idea that she couldn't just creatively rig the transport device to take her home on time--not without the Doctor and the TARDIS' help, anyway--and thus she wasn't going to be getting away until the Doctor's escape plan came through.

She'd accepted that, but it didn't make her not anxious to leave. Or restless. This universe was further out or moved more slowly, and there seemed no sign of the darkness, but she'd never know for sure it wasn't coming until she found the Doctor and knew he'd stopped it. And it wasn't just the danger that made her anxious to get back to her proper universe. As much as she'd missed her first Doctor, he hadn't come back. He was still a memory, and she wanted find her proper Doctor again. She wanted to be amongst the stars, not watching them ( ... )

A heavy sigh caused her shoulders to lift, then settle back where they were. She shifted in the chair, resting the side of her head against the side of the chair, where it curved up, appearing more regal than you average, run-of-the-mill chair.

The sound of approaching footfalls begged for her attention but only when the person spoke, did she look up. "Rose? Rose!" Death leapt to her feet, throwing her arms around the woman, hugging her tight.

For the time being, all dark thoughts were gone, and she was focused on her former roommate once more.

Oh. She hadn't expected to be recognized...although as it stood, apparently she needed to start expecting it. Time travel seemed to have gotten the best of her this time.

But, well, an unfamiliar hug wasn't the worst sort of time travel muck up she could have run into. After a moment, she brought up her arms to return the woman's enthusiastic hug.

At the slight hesitation, Death pulled back slowly, looking at the blonde. "Rose, you...you do know me, right?" she asked softly, frowning with concern. She'd heard of people leaving then returning to the city.

A couple weeks of sitting around getting used to being back in civilization had done him some good. He was no longer the filthy, bloody mess that had dropped out of the sky into the hotel lobby, and though he was still a little freaked out by the second near death experience, he was getting used to pretending like everything was totally normal and fine ( ... )

She looked up at his greeting, blinking a few times, then gave him a weak smile. "Hi."

It had been a fair amount of time since she'd last spoke to Boone and she wondered how he'd been dealing with the whole 'you're now living in a floating sky city'. "How've you been adjusting?" She asked softly, gesturing to the couch off to the side.

If he wanted, he could sit. It was totally up to him.

He shrugged casually. "I'm doing okay." And he was. He'd had a lot of time to come to terms with where he was and what had happened to him, so he really wasn't totally miserable or anything like that. And there were definitely worse places to be trapped.

But clearly that wasn't really the important thing at the moment, so he sat down on the couch she gestured to and looked at her curiously.

"You doing all right? You seem a little down."

The look on his face made her wonder if the look on her face was showing her hand, so to speak. It was a pain in the backside when people that weren't her siblings decided to get all intuitive and wondering what's up with her.

She shook her head, looking down at the arm of her chair for a moment. "Just...missing a friend, you know? People leave the city all the time," she said, by way of an explanation, gesturing off with her hand.
