Seeing new arrivals was honestly nothing new to Helen by this point. After being present in the city for several months, she had seen many come and go. Especially the people she knew personally from her original home. It was hard to see them go, given that most of them had died. None the less she buggered on, as it was what British people did.
Helen stopped behind the new arrival, or who she assumed was a new arrival, with her hands folded in front of her.
Nate spun around and looked the woman over, bringing a finger up to scratch at the back of his neck.
"This is going to sound a little odd but..." There was a bit of a smile on his lips at the absurdity, and he was almost ashamed. "I don't have any idea where I am or how I got here. And I don't think I've been drinking."
"It's hardly odd. It's actually a near daily occurrence here, sir, I assure you." Helen smiled in an attempt to brighten the man's spirits. "The city is called El Dorado. We've been taken from our homes and placed in this city, apparently, because we're 'worthy' of living here."
Then she shrugged. "Of course, not everyone believes that story."
Nate stared at her blankly for a bit, then nodded with a half shrug. "Sure. Right. A city kidnapped me." He shook his head. He wasn't going to debate what he was or wasn't "worthy" for.
"Is there some evil Mayor of El Dorado that drugged us and dragged us here?"
That was not a voice that Sophie was expecting to hear.
She was starting to think that it was just going to be her and Parker, but now Nate was here as well? She wasn't exactly sure what this place was trying to pull -- she wasn't sure she understood this place at all really, but it was something. She made her way forward into the lobby and frowned.
Nate froze at that voice and slowly turned around to face her. He hadn't been expecting that either. He had assumed their reunion would be a little different than this, but he didn't seem to have a choice.
He was trying to come up with proper words. 'Hello' maybe. Or 'what are you doing here?' would have worked. They weren't coming.
Because as far as he was concerned, she hadn't been around in months and he had been waiting impatiently for her to come home, and now he was somewhere...he didn't even know where...and she was there too.
A million things were going on at that moment, and he probably should have been more concerned with the whole...finding himself somewhere he hadn't been five minutes ago...but at the moment he was just settled on the fact that he hadn't seen her in so long.
"You're....hi." Not to mention he had just been yelling at her five minutes ago and she had hung up on him.
